- And we thrive in situations that are complex, challenging and feel absolutely overwhelming. That’s where our strength comes in.
I’m Requina Barnes, LICSW.
For the past 12 years, I’ve worked with individuals, couples and groups in a therapy setting. I’m a licensed social worker with the following certifications:
- Internal Family Systems- Level 1
- Family Therapy Certification
- Parenting Journey
- Multisystemic Therapy
But here’s the thing:
I’ve been in your shoes.
I am a mother of two children. I had my first child at the age of 17 years old. Throughout the years, it has been my children who have given me the strength to persevere and to walk my talk. To follow through on my goals and complete my undergraduate degree and pursue an advanced degree in social work from Boston University School of Social Work. While many times I have fallen off track, I have been able to reflect and realize how my children are watching me. They see how to handle obstacles and hardships through those I encounter. They influenced me to create Strength, Inc. and make my vision into a reality.
I’ve spent the past 12 years working to support individuals manage and navigate their journey through life. From my work with young black men in the court system to advocating for domestic violence survivors to providing referral services for multi-stressed families, I’ve learned everyone has this one thing in common…
We all need someone who believes in us.
Someone who will sit and listen. Someone who will give you the tools to move past your roadblocks. Someone who will believe in your own ability to overcome any obstacle.
I describe myself as spectacularly ordinary except for this one thing:
I AM that person for so many people.
And when we work together, whether for therapy or a workshop or speaking engagement, you will leave having a more positive outlook.
So, where do we go from here?
We take a strength-based approach. You’re the driver in this relationship.
It means plenty of soul-work, commitment and openness to direction.
But you can be damn sure we will be there with tools, resources and a map for that journey.
If this sounds like a fair deal, then take a look at our services.
We offer outpatient therapy, workshops and speaking engagements. So, whether you’re an individual looking for one-on-support, a group looking for a specialized program or an organization looking for a seasoned facilitator and speaker, we have you covered.
It’s your choice. We’re ready when you are.
